The intake/exhaust manifold should be secured to the head with brass nuts and these washers are very thick. They are intended not only to spread the clamping action but the thickness allows them to absorb the heat without being deformed.
You will need 4 x washers per 1 x car. 
Dimentions: 1" wide for 5/16"studs.
