1974 Leyland Clubman Mini – One-Off Z-Max Custom Convertible – 1330cc
A Unique Mini World Australia Custom Build – One of One
This is not simply another restored or modified Classic Mini.
This 1974 Custom build Convertable Leyland Clubman Mini has been individually created by Mini World Australia as an extraordinary one-off custom convertible, combining the unmistakable character of the Australian Leyland Clubman with an aggressive Z-Max wide-body conversion, 1330cc power and a completely bespoke premium interior.
Built with one objective — to create something genuinely unique without compromising on the quality of the components, materials or final presentation.
The result is a spectacular Classic Mini that commands attention from every angle and represents the passion, individuality and workmanship behind Mini World Australia.
ONE OF ONE – A Truly Unique Australian Build
To the best of our knowledge, this is a one-of-a-kind build in Australia in this particular specification.
Rather than building the car around a strict budget, components and finishes were individually selected for their quality, appearance and suitability for the overall concept.
From the body and paintwork through to the wheels, braking system, lighting, interior materials and finishing details, the objective was simple: Choose what was right for the car — and do it properly.
No deliberate shortcuts were taken simply to reduce the cost of the finished build.

- Bespoke Convertible & Z-Max Wide-Body Design
Removing the conventional roofline completely changes the personality of the Clubman.
The custom convertible conversion creates an open-air Mini unlike the conventional saloons normally seen on Australian roads, while the Z-Max body treatment gives the car a dramatically wider and more muscular stance.
The combination of the square-nose Clubman front, open-top body and extreme Z-Max styling makes this car instantly recognisable.
It was never intended to disappear into a collection of ordinary Classic Minis.
It was built to stand out.
Premium Custom Interior
With a convertible, the interior is always on display. For that reason, the cabin was treated as one of the centrepieces of the entire build.
Materials, colours and detailing were carefully selected specifically for this car, rather than simply choosing standard off-the-shelf trim.
The result is a beautifully finished custom premium interior featuring detailed diamond stitching, designed to complement the exterior and elevate the Mini well beyond a conventional restoration.
The seats, trim and finishing details were selected as part of one coordinated design so that the vehicle presents as a complete package whether viewed from outside or sitting behind the wheel.
Upgraded Braking & Modern Lighting
Performance and usability were considered alongside appearance.
The car features a front disc brake system together with a brake booster, providing an important upgrade from the braking arrangements originally fitted to many Minis of this period.
Modern LED headlights and LED indicators have also been incorporated into the build, improving the lighting system while adding another contemporary element to the classic Clubman design.
Built Without Compromising the Vision
This build represents the philosophy behind a special Mini World Australia project.
When the car required the right part, the right part was selected.
When the interior required better material, better material was chosen.
When a particular paint, component or finishing detail better suited the car, the decision was based on achieving the desired result rather than simply selecting the cheapest alternative.
Every major element — bodywork, paint, trim, wheels, brakes, lighting and finishing components — was chosen to complement the overall concept.
The goal was never to build the cheapest custom Mini.
The goal was to build the Mini we envisioned.
A Mini for Someone Who Wants Something Nobody Else Has
There are restored Minis.
There are modified Minis.
And then there are cars that have been created as an individual statement.
This 1974 Leyland Clubman Z-Max Convertible belongs firmly in the latter category.
It combines the heritage and personality of a Classic Mini with the freedom of open-top motoring, an extreme wide-body stance, a bespoke luxury interior and carefully selected modern upgrades.
For the enthusiast looking for something genuinely different, this is an opportunity to own a one-off Mini World Australia custom creation rather than another production-specification Classic Mini.
