AP Lockheed Dual Outlet Brake Master Cylinder – 1980–1989 – Classic Mini & Moke – With Adapter
 
A quality, budget-friendly Genuine AP Lockheed dual outlet brake master cylinder, manufactured in the UK and supplied boxed with an adapter.
 
Designed for applicable Classic Mini and Moke models from approximately 1980–1989, this later-style front-to-rear split master cylinder uses a stepped bore of 17.8mm to 19mm and can replace earlier dual-circuit master cylinder arrangements fitted from approximately September 1978 through the late 1980s, subject to the correct pipework and vehicle specification.
 
This design supersedes the earlier square-reservoir front-to-rear master cylinders and incorporates a brake failure warning switch in the reservoir cap, identified by its yellow tab.

Brake Circuit Configuration
IMPORTANT:
Bottom piston operates the REAR brakes
Upper piston operates the FRONT brakes
 
Some earlier master cylinders were configured in the opposite direction, with the bottom circuit operating the front brakes and the upper circuit operating the rear.
For this reason, the brake pipe connections must not simply be copied from the master cylinder being removed. The hydraulic circuits must be connected according to this master cylinder's configuration.
 
Metric Union Sizes
 
This master cylinder uses two different metric union sizes:
Upper outlet: 10mm
Lower outlet: 12mm
The larger 12mm lower connection corresponds with the stepped-bore rear brake circuit.
 
New brake pipe kits are required where the existing pipework or unions are incompatible.
Brake Fluid
 
Use only the appropriate brake fluid specified for the vehicle and braking system, such as:
DOT 4
DOT 5.1, where appropriate
 
Do not use mineral-based brake fluid. Follow the master-cylinder manufacturer's fluid specification before filling or bleeding the system.
 
Important Installation Information
Brake master cylinders are safety-critical components. Correct identification of the front and rear hydraulic circuits, compatible unions, brake pipes, fluid and professional bleeding of the complete system are essential.
 
Professional installation by a suitably qualified automotive technician is strongly recommended.
